…and we’re used to questions about who we are. Kathryn, a successful businesswoman, has been directly involved in aspects of spiritual exploration, learning and private coaching for more than three decades. She’s worked for years with the fascinating Master Key system of Charles Haanel. She also has some interesting personal gifts that we’ve discovered are actually teachable. David is a retired academic, lawyer and published author with multiple university degrees and a fondness for “the big picture.” He’s spent years working with myth, belief and archetype in literature, philosophy and popular culture. These aspects of our backgrounds are certainly relevant in terms of our work and our writing, but there’s something else you should probably know. There are aspects of who we are that seem to surprise many people.
We’ve defined for ourselves a place in life in which we’re happy almost all the time. Part of what we’ve achieved comes from our recognition that happiness is something one experiences in every moment. It’s not some prize you get just before (or just after) you die, or after you get a bunch of money. You don’t suddenly become happy after your family circumstances somehow change for the better, or after your retirement dinner. It’s also not about making a shopping list of stuff you’d like to have, and then asking “the Universe” for it. It’s definitely not about deliberately shutting off half the functions of your brain so that you can escape from responsibility into a state of passive mindlessness somebody has told you is actually “transcendent joy.”
Of course, it took us a while to figure things out.
We were sweethearts in college briefly, but we lost each other forever — or so we thought. However, some things are simply destined to be. It took us 33 years (and quite a few personal “lessons” drummed into us by life) to find our way to each other again. In the last ten years, we’ve remade our lives and lived the substance of the message we’re offering you. In the process, we’ve made a discovery or two about the mechanisms by which all of us can learn to create peace, success and happiness in our lives, with every breath and in every moment. Contrary to popular belief, there’s actually some work required, and your mind and ego will be involved, as well as your spirit.
Life, it turns out, is literally as we make it. In fact, if you’re visiting our site and reading this in your own search for peace, maybe you’ve already discovered this truth. There is no magic, save that which you’ve been carrying with you all along. Stick around — we’ll talk.
